    Uh, this scene showed only one aspect of the battle. Antietam involved dozens of skirmishes over a course of a few days.

    i apologies for the late response ericown but here is the answer : The technology was advancing faster than the techniques. So they would still go in columns and imploy Napoleonic strategies against much stronger and accurate weaponry . Hope this helps.

    first of all the Victors right history, second of all there are lots of movies that show the other side. maybe you should watch Gettysburg or gods and generals when it comes to Civil war movies.
